Youssouf Diakité
Born on December 10, 1971, in Bamako, I hold a Master’s degree in Private Law, obtained in 1999 from the National School of Administration in Bamako, following my education at the National Institute for the Blind in Mali and Badala High School.
Blind since birth, I served as president of the Young Blind People’s Committee and vice-president of the National Executive Board of the Malian Union of the Blind (2002-2018).
I am an international expert in ICT for the blind and visually impaired, having completed six IT training courses at the Montéclair Institute in Angers, France.
In this capacity, I served as Director of the IT Centre at the National Institute for the Blind in Mali (INAM) from 2009 to 2014 and Director of the IT Centre at the Ismaïla Konaté Foundation (FONDISMA) from 2016 to 2020.
I am a founding member of the Kekeli-Djama project, a multidimensional training platform for visually impaired people. This project brings together Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, Benin, Togo, Senegal, Guinea Conakry, and the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire (2011-2018).
Through my efforts, more than two hundred blind and visually impaired people in Mali and abroad have received training in adapted IT, activities of daily living (ADL), and orientation and mobility.
As an expert in inclusive education, I am the founder of the Missala School for Blind Children. The well-being of people with disabilities is my credo; it is others who matter to me.
